Introducing our delightful Green Beans With Apple Cider – a simple yet flavorful dish perfect for any home cook seeking a tasty side. Frozen green beans become a star in this recipe, achieving the ideal balance between still-crisp and tender with a satisfying bite. No need to spend hours in the kitchen; this dish comes together effortlessly.

Begin by microwaving the green beans in a large bowl, ensuring they reach the desired texture. Meanwhile, in a small skillet, transform ordinary onions into golden caramelized goodness, infusing the dish with depth and sweetness. The magic happens when apple cider enters the scene – not the vinegar, but the sweet, fruity kind. As it simmers, the cider transforms into a luscious, syrupy glaze that coats every bean with a burst of flavor.

Seasoned with a touch of salt and pepper, the green beans join the caramelized onions and cider reduction, creating a harmonious medley of tastes and textures. Toss them together, and voila – a side dish that’s not just a feast for the palate but also a breeze to prepare. Elevate your home cooking experience with Green Beans With Apple Cider, where simplicity meets sophistication on your dinner table.

  • Method: Stove + Microwave

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 (16-ounce) bags whole frozen green beans
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 small yellow skinned onion, finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup apple cider (NOT ACV)
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Put the beans in a large microwave safe bowl, loosely cover bowl with plastic food storage wrap and microwave on high 5 minutes. Uncover and stir the beans, then cover and microwave on high 4 to 7 minutes more, until desired doneness, from still-crisp to tender, but with a bite.
  2. Heat a small skillet over medium low heat. Add a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil and the onions and cook until beginning to caramelize, about 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the cider, raise the heat to medium high and cook until liquid is reduced and syrupy, about 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the beans from microwave. Season the beans with salt and pepper, to taste, and add to the pan with the onions and cider. Toss evenly to coat the beans and keep warm until ready to serve.
